Preparations are underway for the 2026 edition of the Ngas Annual Festival of Arts and Culture, popularly known as Puusdung, scheduled to take place in April. The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Professor Noel Wannang, made this known on Thursday during a World Press Conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Jos.

Professor Wannang described Puusdung as more than a cultural celebration, noting that it represents the identity, history, resilience, and collective heritage of the Ngas people. He emphasized that the festival serves as a platform for transmitting cultural values from elders to younger generations while showcasing the richness of Ngas traditions to a global audience.

According to him, the 2026 edition marks the 38th anniversary of the festival and promises to be larger, more inclusive, and globally visible. He noted that the event has evolved into a unifying force for Ngas people both at home and in the diaspora, promoting peace, strengthening communal bonds, stimulating local enterprise, and boosting tourism.

This year’s festival is themed “Ngas: Identity, Legacy and Continuity,” a call for reflection on cultural roots and a commitment to preserving heritage for future generations.

He outlined key objectives of Puusdung 2026 to include promoting Ngas cultural heritage through music, dance, arts, crafts, and exhibitions; engaging youths through talent discovery and entrepreneurship opportunities; fostering unity and reconciliation; and attracting national and international attention to the area’s cultural and tourism potential.

Wannang disclosed that the planning committee is collaborating with traditional institutions, government and security agencies, cultural groups, and private sector partners to ensure a peaceful and successful event. He added that sub-committees have been inaugurated to handle security, logistics, media visibility, sponsorship, and cultural authenticity.

He called on Ngas sons and daughters, development partners, corporate organizations, and government at all levels to support the festival, stressing that culture remains a vital tool for identity, continuity, and development.

The week-long festival will feature exhibitions showcasing Ngas arts and cultural heritage, alongside other activities aimed at promoting unity, peace, and community development.
