The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of Northern States and
Abuja, has urged Nigerians to strive to make peace with each other in
2018.
CAN made the call in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Rev. Joseph Hayab.
Hayab stated that as Christians celebrate the new year, there was a
need for all citizens to contribute their quota to promote peace and
unity in the country.
“We all need peace to grow, develop, be happy and prosperous. Our
citizens are hospitable, gifted and wonderful in every area of their
endeavors.
“If we have any resolution for the new year then let it be to love, forgive those who may have offended us.
“Leaders need to love their subjects and come up with programmes and
policies that will help citizens to be happy and patriotic,” he said.
Hayab, however, urged Nigerians to put aside issues and things that
could divide the country, adding that the youths who were the future
leaders of the country should learn to accept, appreciate and work with
others in the new year without fear or prejudice.
