Seizes Cocaine, Tramadol, and Weapons in Nationwide Operations

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested more than 100 suspects, including popular Lagos socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, also known as Pretty Mike, following a midnight raid on Proxy Nightclub located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The operation, conducted in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025, followed credible intelligence that a drug party was underway at the club.

NDLEA operatives, who had infiltrated the party around 11 p.m. on Saturday, disrupted the event at about 3 a.m. on Sunday in line with the agency’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). During the raid, cartons of illicit substances, including Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and laughing gas, were recovered from suspects and the club’s storage area.

According to a statement issued by the NDLEA, all suspects, including the club owner, have been taken into custody for screening.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, uncovered 70 parcels of cocaine weighing 3.60 kilograms concealed inside body cream containers disguised as cocoa butter. The consignment, destined for London, United Kingdom, was intercepted on October 14, 2025, leading to the arrest of cargo agent Lawal Mustapha Olakunle and two others — Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a healthcare worker, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, CEO of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co travel agency.

Similarly, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, was arrested while attempting to export 103.59 grams of methamphetamine concealed in a diabetic herb tea pack to the Philippines on October 22, 2025.

In Kwara State, NDLEA operatives arrested Umar Abubakar, 40, with 21,950 capsules of Tramadol 250mg hidden inside a 100-litre water heater at Bode Saadu, Moro LGA, on October 21.

In Taraba State, two suspects — Auwal Musa (26) and Salihu Bala (22) — were apprehended at Dan-Anacha checkpoint with 450,000 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 concealed in a truck transporting building materials from Onitsha to Mubi.

Further nationwide raids led to the recovery of 162.2kg of skunk on the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State, and 128kg of the same substance in Keffi, Nasarawa State, from Abubakar Muhammad, 55.

In Lagos, a major distributor of Canadian and California Loud, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, was arrested on October 17 during a raid at her Lekki residence, where 500 grams of the drug were recovered. Another operation in Ikorodu on October 23 led to the seizure of 275 litres of “skuchies”, a cocktail made with blackcurrant, cannabis, and opioids, from Ogunyabo Adenigbigbe.

Elsewhere, a 75-year-old grandfather, Echendu Onuoka, and a 60-year-old grandmother, Aukana John, were arrested in Abia State with 4.7kg and 225g of skunk respectively.

In Ondo State, NDLEA recovered 150kg of skunk during a raid at Lot Camp, Ikun Akoko, while in Kaduna, two suspects — Bashir Mohammed (50) and Samini Ahmed Tijjani (35) — were arrested with 234.5kg of the same substance at Yan Aya, Saminaka, Lere LGA.

Another set of suspects, Isah Usman (50) and Salvation Okoler (18), were caught along the Abuja–Kaduna highway with 8,600 pills of Tramadol 225mg and Rohypnol.

At the Seme border, NDLEA officers arrested Jacob Ojugbele with 55kg of skunk at Ashipa, Badagry, and Amusa Oluwabukola with 121.3 litres of skuchies at Itoga, Badagry.

Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, operatives on patrol along the Gummi–Anka road arrested Abubakar Ibrahim, 30, with an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 rounds of ammunition, which he was transporting from Sokoto to the Bagega forest in Anka LGA. The suspect and the seized arms have been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.

The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts against drug abuse and trafficking across Nigeria.
