Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady and wife of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has called on women and young girls to embrace modest dressing and uphold good values.
Speaking at an interfaith event in Abuja, the First Lady said being naked is not a reflection of beauty and encouraged older women to mentor young girls, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
She urged women to support and guide younger girls by providing opportunities such as scholarships and teaching them moral values.
According to her, mentorship should go beyond routine guidance and should involve investing in the lives of young girls who need support.
“I challenge you to have a mentee with you, not somebody you’ve been mentoring all the time, but just pour into the life of a young girl from an indigent background,” she said.
Tinubu added that women should encourage young girls to develop good virtues and learn how to present themselves properly.
“Help them. Even if it’s to give them scholarship. Encourage, teach them good virtues and how to be good women. Teach them how to dress well,” she said.
The First Lady expressed concern about the growing trend of revealing dressing among young people, stressing that true beauty comes from within.
“Teach them how to cover up, and you know, being naked is not beauty. Beauty comes from within,” she added.
She also called on men to exercise discipline, saying, “Our men, God will also help them and crucify their eyes.”
