The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated 277 cartons of counterfeit and unregistered Malamal Forte malaria drugs valued at over ₦1.2 billion from a warehouse in the Ilasa-Oshodi area of Lagos State.

According to the agency, the fake products—illegally imported from Shanxi Tianyuan Pharmaceuticals Group in China—were concealed in cartons labelled as Diclofenac Potassium 50mg and falsely declared as spare parts in their shipping container.

NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, reiterated the agency’s commitment, with the backing of the Presidency and Federal Ministry of Health, to eradicating counterfeit and substandard medicines from the country.

She said the operation reflects NAFDAC’s sustained nationwide efforts to safeguard public health and ensure that only safe, quality-assured medicines are accessible to Nigerians.
