Less than a week after the Nigerian Army searching for missing
General Idris Alkali (rtd) found his car and belongings, the military on
Tuesday pulled out another vehicle from the mining pond in Dura Du, Jos
South LGA of Plateau State.

The search operation for the missing army General which was set up by
the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Tukur Buratai, is jointly
being carried out by the 3 Division Nigeria Army Rukuba Operation Safe
Haven (OPSH) saddled with the responsibility of maintaining peace in the
State.
It would be recalled that the missing General, who is the immediate
past Chief of Administration, Army Headquarters, Abuja, was declared
missing on the 3rd of September, 2018.
He was said to be on his way to Bauchi after leaving Abuja in the morning.
The army said that after thorough search and investigation, it
stumbled on some intelligence that made it necessary to search the water
body.
On the 20th of September, 2018, the operation, with the support of
Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) and fire service commenced the
evacuation of water from the pond located in Dura Du, Jos Local
Government.
Addressing journalists after the second vehicle was pulled out,
Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Agustine Agundu, said a
Toyoto Hiace Bus with registration no Plateau, RYM 307 XA was pulled
out, adding that there are more mysteries in the water.
He said that the army under the directive of the COAS, Major General Tukur Buratai was determined to uncover the mysteries.
“It is a sad moment for us for any right thinking Nigerian to think that crime is being committed almost on daily basis.
“It took the efforts of the joint operation to make the startling discoveries,” he explained.
The commander confirmed that there were three more cars in the pond
and the joint operation would pull them out one after the other.
He said that there are probabilities that there other things under the water.
Also speaking, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigeria
Army Rukuba, Major General Benson Akinruluyo, allayed fears of the
surrounding communities that they would be dealt with after the
discoveries.
Akinruluyo said “There is nothing for them to fear; however, we have
recovered the vehicle, we still need him or his body. We are asked to
find him dead or alive.”
According to him, “The community can tell us where they kept him or
his body, we will not stop until we find him or his body,” he stressed.
