Tragedy struck in Minna, Niger State, as a 3-year-old girl identified as Saudat Nasir was found dead inside a soakaway pit a day after she was declared missing.
Her body was discovered on Sunday, October 26, 2025, and has since been buried according to Islamic rites at the Kpakungu Burial Ground in Minna.
According to reports, Saudat had gone missing while her mother, Hafsat, was observing prayers during a visit to a friend who had recently given birth. The incident occurred in the Soje B area of Minna.
A Facebook user, Abdulazeez Akintola, who shared details of the heartbreaking incident, said the little girl was last seen playing within the compound before her mother went to pray. However, by the time Hafsat finished praying, Saudat had disappeared.
Despite immediate reports to the nearest police station and media alerts via Prestige FM Minna, efforts to locate the child proved unsuccessful until her lifeless body was found in a soakaway.
“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un,” Akintola wrote. “With deep sorrow, we announce that little Saudat Nasir, the young girl we reported missing a few hours ago, has been found in a soakaway lifeless. No one can truly explain how it happened, but Allah knows best. She has immediately been laid to rest according to Islamic rites at Kpakungu Burial Ground, Minna. The circumstances surrounding Saudat’s death remain unclear as investigations continue.
