The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has banned overnight vigils and directed that all church activities across its branches must end by 8 p.m., citing growing security concerns in Nigeria.
The directive was contained in a circular dated June 5, 2026, and addressed to Regional Overseers and branch pastors. It takes immediate effect.
According to the church, all services, meetings and programmes at every level must now conclude by 8 p.m. until further notice. It also announced the indefinite suspension of overnight vigils and late-night prayer programmes.
The church further stated that where special prayer sessions are necessary, such gatherings must be converted into evening programmes and still end not later than 8 p.m.
The memo was signed by Temitope A. Olawale, Director of Administration at the MFM International Headquarters and Nigeria, who explained that the decision was a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of members.
“The directives are purely precautionary and aimed at safeguarding the lives and well-being of our members in the face of the current security situation in the country,” the statement read.
