Argentinian
International and five time world player of the year winner, Lionel
Messi, has retired from international football after Argentina lost Copa
America title to Chile for the second time in two years.
Chile
had defeated Argentina in a drawn-out, but thrilling final that was
determined by penalty shootout in the US state of New Jersey.
Messi and Lucas Biglia missed their shots in the match that had ended 0-0 at the end of extra time.
“For me the national team is over. I have done all I can, it hurts not
to be a champion,” he told reporters after the match, according to
Aljazeera .
The 29-years old Barcelona star couldn’t win the title for Argentina
despite playing alongside Argentinian stars like Angel Di Maria, Sergio
Aguero among others.
