Naanlong Daniel Gapyil received a strong show of support from delegates during the All Progressives Congress State Assembly primaries held in Piapung Ward B and Koenoem Ward B of Mikang Local Government Area on Monday.
A large number of delegates and supporters reportedly queued behind the Speaker, signaling significant grassroots backing ahead of the party’s nomination process for the Mikang State Constituency seat.
Speaking with journalists during the exercise, some delegates attributed their support for Gapyil to what they described as his developmental achievements since assuming office as member representing Mikang Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly.
The supporters said returning the Speaker to the Assembly would ensure continuity of ongoing projects, particularly road construction projects currently being executed within the local government area.
“Voting Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil back means we will see more dividends of democracy, and the current road project in Mikang can continue without delay,” one of the delegates stated.
Other supporters also maintained that their decision was based on the need to sustain development in Mikang, insisting that previous representatives of the constituency had not matched the level of performance recorded under Gapyil’s leadership.
According to them, re-electing the Speaker would further promote infrastructure development and improve the welfare of residents across the constituency.
The APC State Assembly primaries in Mikang are part of the party’s statewide process to select candidates for the 2027 general elections in Plateau State.
