Residents of Owo Local Government Area detained a man, identified as Joseph, on Sunday night, March 1, 2026, after he was allegedly found carrying several pieces of women’s underwear hidden in a nylon bag at Ikare Junction.
In a video that has since gone viral, Joseph claimed he had travelled from the Akoko area to Owo in search of employment. He said he discovered the underwear at a location where he had gone to bathe and picked them up.
The suspect also alleged that he had previously encountered a mentally unstable woman with whom he claimed to have had sexual relations, and that she handed him the nylon bag containing the items.
Eyewitnesses reported that local youths questioned Joseph’s intentions, suggesting possible involvement in ritual activities often linked to internet fraud. Joseph denied the allegations.
The situation reportedly escalated as some residents attempted to attack him, but others intervened to prevent violence. Authorities are yet to confirm the next steps regarding the suspect’s detention.
