A 32-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after jumping from a height of about 30 feet into a dam while attempting to film an Instagram reel in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
The man, identified as Pushpendra Kumar, reportedly visited Pahuj Dam in the Raksa area with a group of friends on Sunday evening, September 6.
According to reports, Pushpendra climbed onto a boundary wall at a viewpoint while his friends recorded him.
He then performed a backflip and jumped from the approximately 30-foot-high wall, apparently expecting to land in the water.
However, the stunt went wrong when he landed on a shallow section of the dam instead of deep water.
He reportedly hit the ground with significant force, sustaining fractures to both legs.
Pushpendra was unable to get himself out of the area, forcing his friends to seek help.
Police officers led by Grassland outpost in-charge Ranvijay Singh later arrived at the scene and helped rescue the injured man from the dam.
He was subsequently taken to a private hospital, where he is receiving treatment. His family members also rushed to the hospital after being informed about the incident.
A video reportedly captured the moments surrounding the incident as his friends watched in panic.
The stunt, which was reportedly intended to create content for social media, ended with Pushpendra sustaining serious injuries to both legs.
