It was a tragic day, Monday 27th June at Bayan Tasha, Angwan Rogo, Jos when
two members of the same family were killed when lightening struck during
the early morning rain.
The siblings, named Salihu Danjuma Ibrahim and Salisu Ibrahim died
on the spot when they were electrocuted after a series of bizzare chain
reactions occured after the lightening strike.
Sources said that “the lightening caused a
33 KV high tension wire above to spark above the shop where the boys
were perched to avoid the rain. The spark caused the high tension wire
to fall to the ground with a loud bang.
The loud sound cause the two brothers to run out of the shop because
of the confusion it generated – unfortunately, as they ran out, the high
tension wires were firmly lodged on the ground making contact with the
water on the ground and as they made to escape, they got electrocuted
and died instantly.
The two deceased have since been buried according to Islamic rites.
