Dignitaries from across Plateau State gathered on Sunday evening to celebrate the 80th birthday of former Plateau State Governor and elder statesman, Jonah David Jang, at a dinner held in his honour at his residence in Du, Jos South Local Government Area.
The celebration brought together political leaders, government officials, family members, friends, and well-wishers who came to honour the former governor for his decades of service to Plateau State and Nigeria.
Among the prominent personalities present at the event was former Plateau State Governor and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Bako Lalong. Also in attendance was the Plateau State Secretary to the Government, Nanchang Jatau, Former Senate Minority Leader, Simon Mwadkwon alongside business leader Kefas Wungak Ropshik, former and serving commissioners, local government chairmen, senior citizens, political associates, and other government appointees.
The colourful gathering was marked by an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie as guests exchanged pleasantries and paid glowing tributes to Senator Jang. Speakers at the event described the celebrant as a patriotic leader, disciplined administrator, and one of the pillars of Plateau’s political development.
Many of those present commended Jang for his contributions to democratic governance and nation building, noting that his years of public service have left a lasting legacy in the state and beyond.
A major highlight of the evening was the ceremonial cutting of the anniversary cakes by the celebrant. Surrounded by family members, friends, and political associates, Senator Jang cut the cakes amidst applause and celebratory songs from guests.
In his remarks, the former governor expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and thanked friends, associates, and well-wishers for celebrating the milestone with him.
The well-attended dinner provided an opportunity for political leaders and stakeholders to interact in a relaxed atmosphere while celebrating the life and legacy of the former governor, whose influence continues to shape political discourse in Plateau State.
