The Lagos State Police Command has officially summoned Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, to appear at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti over allegations of multiple sexual offences and other actions that could disrupt public peace. The pastor is expected to report before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID by 10 a.m. on Monday.

Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed on Sunday that Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh had ordered a thorough investigation into the claims against Okafor, following several complaints that included alleged sexual misconduct and other criminal behavior capable of disturbing law and order in Lagos State.

“The pastor has been duly served with an invitation letter through his legal representative and is expected to cooperate fully with the SCID in the ongoing investigation into the allegations of capital offences and other serious crimes against him,” the statement read.

The police assured that adequate security had been provided for alleged victims, whose identities would be fully protected. They also called on the public to provide credible information or evidence relevant to the case to assist the ongoing investigation. “No individual will be shielded based on status or influence,” the command stressed.

The investigation follows claims that surfaced online in mid-December 2025, which quickly gained public attention. Among the most prominent allegations was made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who posted on Instagram that she had been in a long-term sexual relationship with Okafor that began in 2017 and lasted nine years. She accused the pastor of breaking promises of marriage, sharing explicit content, and contributing to the breakdown of her previous marriage.

In response to the mounting controversy, Okafor addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, kneeling at the pulpit to apologise for past “mistakes,” although he did not detail the specific allegations. Following the fallout, he reportedly stepped down from his pastoral duties, while the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria considered possible sanctions against him.

The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to conducting the investigation professionally and without bias, emphasizing that justice will be pursued regardless of the social or religious status of those involved.
