The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several of its members for defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 31, in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the party’s Elders’ Caucus and Local Government Chairmen, Mr. Segun Edwards.

According to the statement, the decision was reached during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting convened to review the outcome of the PDP’s recent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

The party leadership said the expelled members had openly declared allegiance to the ADC, in what was described as a clear violation of PDP’s core values and principles.

“Rising from the meeting, the party elders and the local government chairmen frowned at the decision of some members who openly aligned themselves with the ADC,” Edwards stated. “They have desecrated the principles of the party by their open declaration for ADC while still being members of the PDP.”

The statement noted that the stakeholders unanimously passed a motion to expel the affected individuals, a decision which was upheld by all the elders present.

“The enlarged Stakeholders Assembly moved the motion for the expulsion of all the members who openly aligned themselves with the coalition, and all the elders voted in favor of their expulsion,” it concluded.

The Lagos PDP emphasized its commitment to party discipline and warned that any acts of disloyalty would be met with decisive action.
