The Lagos State House of Assembly has warned job seekers, contractors and prospective vendors against fraudsters demanding money in exchange for employment, appointments, contracts and other opportunities allegedly linked to the legislature.
The warning was contained in a public disclaimer issued by the Assembly and signed by its Clerk.
The Assembly stated that it does not request or accept payments, fees or gratification in exchange for jobs, appointments, contract awards, procurement opportunities or any other official benefit.
According to the disclaimer, recruitment, procurement, tendering and related activities are conducted through established statutory procedures and communicated through the Assembly’s authorised channels.
The legislature urged members of the public to be cautious of individuals who demand money while claiming to represent the Assembly.
It warned that anyone who pays such individuals does so at their own risk, adding that the Assembly would not be responsible for any losses arising from such transactions.
The Assembly further said anyone found soliciting or collecting money in connection with jobs, contracts or other opportunities purportedly involving the legislature would be reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
Such individuals could face investigation and possible prosecution, the Assembly warned.
It therefore advised job seekers, contractors and vendors to rely only on the Assembly’s official communication channels for information regarding recruitment, procurement, tendering and other opportunities.
