Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Wednesday held an emergency meeting with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ilorin following the violent attack on the CAC church in Eruku.
The meeting, held at Ahmadu Bello House, was convened to brief Christian leaders on government’s immediate response and to reassure them of the state’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed deep sympathy over the incident, describing it as a tragic and unacceptable assault on a place of worship. He confirmed that the Nigerian military has since taken full control of the affected community to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The Governor assured CAN that both the state and federal governments are working collaboratively to restore peace, adding that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of residents.
He reaffirmed his administration’s ongoing support to security agencies through logistics, intelligence gathering, and other operational assistance aimed at preventing similar attacks.
AbdulRazaq appealed for calm and urged residents of Eruku and surrounding areas to cooperate with security personnel deployed to the community as efforts to stabilise the area continue.
