As consultations ahead of the next political season continue to gather momentum, Hon. Komsol Alphonsus Longgap has intensified his grassroots engagements across the Southern Zone, formally declaring his intention to contest for the senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Upon arriving in Shendam, the senatorial aspirant’s first point of call was a courtesy visit to the Long Goemai of Shendam, where he paid homage to the revered traditional ruler and officially informed him of his intention to contest for the Senate seat representing the Southern Zone. The visit reflected Komsol’s respect for traditional institutions and recognition of their important role in fostering peace, unity, and development within the region.
Following the palace visit, Komsol proceeded with a series of political and community engagements, including a meeting with APC local government chairmen and ward chairmen from across the Southern Zone.
The gathering, held in a calm but expectant atmosphere, brought together party loyalists who form the backbone of the APC’s structure at the grassroots level. Addressing the chairmen, Komsol emphasized the importance of fairness, diligence, and unity in carrying out their responsibilities. He urged them to remain committed to strengthening the party’s internal processes, stressing that credibility at the grassroots would play a major role in shaping future electoral outcomes.
During the engagement, Komsol highlighted his track record while serving as a member of the House of Representatives, noting that many of his achievements remain visible across communities in the Southern Zone. He pointed to developmental projects and constituency interventions as evidence of his commitment to service and assured the party leaders that he would do even more if given the opportunity to serve at the senatorial level.
Some of the ward chairmen, in their remarks, affirmed Komsol’s performance during his time at the lower chamber, acknowledging that his contributions had made meaningful impacts in their various communities. They also appreciated his continued engagement with the grassroots and described his record as commendable.

Komsol further called on party leaders to work collectively toward the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s flag bearer, emphasizing the need for unity, loyalty, and strategic mobilisation ahead of future political contests.
The former lawmaker also visited a women’s skill acquisition programme he sponsored in Shendam as part of his empowerment initiatives. The programme focused on training women in soap making, liquid kitchen soap production, and other toiletries, with the aim of promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment.
During the visit, Komsol interacted with participants and observed practical demonstrations of the skills acquired by the women. Many of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as impactful and timely in helping them acquire sustainable means of livelihood, Hon Komsol in his magnanimous nature,donated 200 pieces of brand new wrappers to the women who participated in the skill acquisition.
As a gesture of appreciation during the APC stakeholders’ meeting, Komsol provided cash donations to local government and ward chairmen to assist with transportation expenses. The gesture was warmly received by attendees and added a personal touch to the engagement.

Observers say the series of visits and consultations reflect Komsol’s continued effort to reconnect with grassroots structures, traditional institutions, and community groups as he builds support for his senatorial ambition across the Southern Zone.
