Kano State Postpones Secondary School Exams Amidst Nationwide Strike

The Kano State Ministry of Education has announced the indefinite suspension of the 2023 Secondary Schools Qualifying Examination (SSQE) that was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

The decision to postpone the exams comes as labour unions embark on an indefinite nationwide strike in protest against the alleged abuse of the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, in Imo State.

The statement read in part, “The State Ministry of Education, has suspended 2023 Secondary Schools Qualifying Examination (SSQE) scheduled to take place today Tuesday 14th Nov. 2023 till further notice.”

The statement signed by the Director, Public Enlightenment of the Ministry, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, appealed to students and parents/guardians to bear with any inconvenience the suspension may have caused.

Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress declared a nationwide strike starting today, Nov. 14, over the alleged abuse of Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress,  by police officers and the Imo State Government.
