The Fwinbe Thomas Gofwan Memorial Foundation (FTGMF) has stepped in to provide legal, medical, and psychological support to Nenpanwa Victor Zang, popularly known as Aunty Cece, following a brutal mob assault stemming from a false accusation in Plateau State.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, July 20, began in Barkin Ladi, where Aunty Cece—stranded and seeking assistance—received ₦1,500 for transportation from a woman. The woman, reportedly influenced by another individual, accused Cece of a bizarre crime: allegedly stealing a man’s manhood in a previous incident. Acting on the unverified and unfounded claim, the woman, her military husband, and a small mob allegedly abducted and severely beat Cece, moving her from Kufang Miango Junction to Hillstation Junction, where she was left in critical condition.

Cece is currently receiving treatment at Dadin Kowa Comprehensive Health Centre, Last Gate, where medical staff describe her condition as stable but critical.

A delegation from FTGMF was received at the facility by Martha Mallias, Head of Nursing Services, who briefed them on Cece’s condition and the hospital’s efforts to stabilize her.

The Fwinbe Thomas Gofwan Memorial Foundation, established in memory of a young man lynched by a mob under false accusations, condemned the attack and pledged full support for Cece’s recovery and pursuit of justice.

Bright Habila, Program Manager at FTGMF, stated: “We are here to advocate for her, ensure justice is served, and see that the perpetrators are held accountable.”

Board Chairman, Nenpominyi Thomas Gofwan, expressed dismay over the alleged involvement of military personnel in the incident.

“It’s unacceptable that those tasked with protecting citizens would take part in such cruelty. We are determined to see that this does not go unpunished. She deserves justice, support, and a return to dignity.”

FTGMF’s legal counsel, Mrs. Ajala Gidado, confirmed that the case has legal merit and would be pursued aggressively.

“A crime has clearly been committed. We believe this case will lead to accountability and set an example. We trust the military authorities will not allow this to be swept under the rug.”

As part of their intervention, the foundation is covering all hospital bills, coordinating trauma counseling, and initiating legal proceedings. The foundation is also providing humanitarian aid to Cece, underscoring its mission to end mob violence and uphold human dignity.

The incident has sparked renewed concern over the rising trend of mob justice in Nigeria and the need for stronger institutional response and community awareness.

FTGMF is calling on security agencies, civil society, and community leaders to condemn mob actions and protect the rights of all citizens—especially the most vulnerable.
