Plateau United Football Club has suspended its planned change of the club’s official logo following strong reactions and concerns from fans and other stakeholders.
The decision was announced after further consultations and due diligence by the club’s management, with Chairman Al-hassan Yakmut stressing the importance of supporters in decisions concerning the identity and future of the Jos-based club.
According to the management, the proposed logo redesign was initially conceived to strengthen the club’s brand, improve merchandising opportunities, enhance commercial prospects and align Plateau United with modern global football trends.
However, the backlash from supporters over the proposed change has prompted the club to broaden its consultation process before adopting any new emblem.
Management said three proposed logo designs will now be presented to supporters and other stakeholders for consideration, after which one will be selected.
The club also clarified that the existing logo remains the officially recognised emblem of Plateau United pending the conclusion of the consultation process.
Yakmut reaffirmed the club’s commitment to engaging its supporters, describing them as important stakeholders whose views must be considered in decisions affecting the club’s identity.
The management also apologised for any inconvenience or concerns generated by the initial announcement, while assuring supporters that their input would be taken into account in determining the club’s future visual identity.
