British singer Jessie J has announced that she is taking a break from social media as she prepares to undergo her second cancer reconstruction surgery.
The 38-year-old singer made the announcement on Monday, September 7, in an emotional post on Instagram, where she reassured fans that she was doing okay despite not being at her best.
Jessie J said she needed to step away from the online world to focus on her health, healing and spending more time with her three-year-old son, Sky.
The singer reflected on the past two years, describing the period as “magical, successful, life changing and extremely busy.”
During that time, she released her first album in eight years, moved from the United States back to the United Kingdom, toured internationally, went through a breakup and was diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer.
She said the experiences had taken a toll on parts of her life that she had not had enough time to properly process.
With her work schedule now slowing down, Jessie said she wanted to use the opportunity to focus on recovering and taking care of herself.
She explained that she would be stepping away from social media to undergo her second cancer reconstruction surgery, recharge, rest and spend quality time with her son.
“I’m tapping out of this world for a while and into my real one,” she wrote, describing the decision as a “digital cleanse.”
Jessie J also said she wanted to be more present in her personal life and give herself the time and space needed to heal.
The singer was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent treatment before announcing earlier this year that she was cancer-free. She has continued to share aspects of her health journey with fans.
While taking the break, Jessie said she may occasionally appear online for work-related commitments, which could sometimes be handled by members of her team.
She thanked her fans for supporting her throughout her health journey and said she would return to social media when she felt ready.
Jessie J welcomed her son, Sky, in 2023 and has continued balancing motherhood with her music career and recovery.
