The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new online system allowing candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions through the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to verify and upload their O’Level results from home.
The new service, which initially covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), is designed to reduce candidates’ reliance on Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, particularly during periods of heavy patronage.
Under the new arrangement, JAMB will electronically verify candidates’ results directly with the relevant examination bodies before the results are uploaded to their JAMB profiles.
In a statement issued by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Board said the initiative would make the process faster, safer and more convenient while addressing challenges associated with the traditional manual upload system.
The new system is also expected to reduce cases involving misplaced or mixed-up certificates, fraudulent or unverified results, and errors in the manual entry of subjects and grades.
Through the integration of JAMB’s e-Facility platform with examination bodies, candidates’ results can be checked against the records of the issuing institutions before being uploaded to their profiles.
The Board said the initiative forms part of its customer-focused service delivery agenda under its sixth Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, with technology being used to reduce unnecessary physical visits, queues and paperwork.
How Candidates Can Verify and Upload Their Results
To use the service, candidates are required to obtain a result verification code through JAMB’s designated result verification portal.
Applicants will provide their National Identification Number (NIN), indicate the number of O’Level sittings and select the relevant examination body or bodies. They will also provide their email address and GSM number before making payment through the available payment gateway.
After payment, candidates will enter their examination details, including their examination number, series and year.
Once the result has been successfully verified, a Verification Code will be issued.
Candidates are then required to send “VERIFY” followed by the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019. JAMB said the verified result will subsequently be uploaded, with candidates receiving a notification confirming the submission.
Candidates with two O’Level sittings are required to log into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and select “2026 UTME O’Level Upload.”
After entering the Verification Code, their two verified results will be displayed, allowing them to select the required subjects.
JAMB stated that candidates must select a minimum of five subjects and a maximum of nine subjects, with no subject selected more than once, before clicking “Apply the O’Level Results.”
A notification will be sent to candidates once the process has been successfully completed.
JAMB said the new service will provide an alternative for candidates during periods when CBT centres are experiencing long queues, heavy patronage or network challenges.
The Board added that it would continue to strengthen its collaboration with examination bodies and other government agencies while using technology to simplify admission-related processes and improve services for candidates.
