It’s Against Igbo Culture — Odumeje Sparks Debate Over DNA Testing, Paternity Claims

Controversial cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere has stirred widespread reactions online following his remarks on DNA testing and paternity verification.

In a recent statement, Odumeje argued that conducting DNA tests contradicts traditional Igbo cultural beliefs, maintaining that children born within a marriage should automatically be regarded as belonging to the husband.

He described such acceptance as a vital part of marital trust and cultural integrity, questioning the growing reliance on scientific methods to determine paternity.

The cleric also cast doubt on the reliability of DNA testing in Nigeria, claiming that local laboratories may not always produce accurate results, thereby raising concerns about the credibility of such tests.

His comments have since reignited debates across social media platforms, with some backing his cultural perspective, while others insist that scientific evidence should take precedence in matters of paternity.
