Iran has vowed to punish United States President Donald Trump following the killing of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, during an airstrike reportedly carried out by the United States and its ally, Israel.
The Islamic Republic made the declaration in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, warning that Trump would not escape consequences for what it described as the assassination of its top leader.
“We will punish Trump for assassinating Supreme Leader Khamenei. We will never let him go,” the statement read.
The threat comes amid escalating tensions following the outbreak of war between Iran and its adversaries after the February 28 strikes that killed Khamenei in Tehran.
Since the conflict began, dozens of people have reportedly been killed on both sides, including Iranian civilians and several United States soldiers deployed in the region.
Meanwhile, reactions have continued to surface online. One X user, identified as @sixtoninee, expressed support for Iran’s stance, stating that the country would likely pursue retaliation.
“Trump deserves this and I’m sure Iran will do this. Persians have history of being brave. They won’t let it go,” the user wrote.
The user further argued that attempts by the United States and Israel to weaken the Iranian government had instead strengthened the regime.
“They made the regime stronger. They are losing this war from every angle,” the post added.
Khamenei, who served as Iran’s Supreme Leader for decades, was killed during coordinated airstrikes targeting key Iranian leadership figures, an event that has significantly intensified the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
