Armed bandits reportedly disguised in women’s hijabs attacked Mallamawar Yari village in the Gawakuke ward of Rabah Local Government Area on Saturday night, killing several residents and abducting others.
The incident was disclosed in a post on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via X (formerly Twitter).
According to the post, the attackers stormed the village under the cover of darkness while dressed in women’s hijabs, a disguise that allegedly allowed them to move around without raising suspicion before launching the assault.
During the attack, several villagers were reportedly killed, while many others were abducted and taken to an unknown destination.
The analyst noted that the development has heightened concerns among residents, especially as attacks continue to be reported across several communities in Sokoto State.
“Last night, armed bandits reportedly disguised in women’s hijabs attacked Mallamawar Yari village in Gawakuke ward, Rabah LGA, Sokoto State. Several residents were killed and many others abducted during the attack,” he wrote.
He further questioned the steps being taken to address the growing insecurity in the state.
“With attacks continuing across communities in Sokoto State, the question remains; what concrete measures are being taken to halt the growing wave of insecurity in the state?” the post added.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
