A 58-year-old man has been found dead in Jaipur, India, amid allegations that his family was threatened and pressured to withdraw a sexual assault case involving his 23-year-old daughter.
According to a report by Linda Ikeji’s Blog, the man was found hanging near his residence in July, and the incident was initially treated as a suspected suicide.
However, his wife later filed a complaint alleging that the family had received repeated death threats from the four men accused of assaulting their daughter. She claimed the suspects had demanded that the family drop the case and threatened her husband if they refused.
The woman stated that her daughter was abducted and sexually assaulted in June and released two days later. The victim subsequently gave a statement to investigators, and the four suspects were reportedly arrested during the initial investigation.
The family, however, alleged that the intimidation continued after the arrests. The man’s wife also accused the suspects of being responsible for his death and alleged that the scene had been staged to make it appear as though he had taken his own life.
Following the family’s complaint and subsequent police investigation, authorities have now opened a homicide case. The allegations against the suspects and the circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain subject to investigation.
