Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has said he does not belong to either the Obidient or Kwankwasiyya political movements, declaring that his political identity is firmly with the NDC.
Dickson made the clarification amid political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that he remains committed to the NDC and its political agenda.
“I am not Obidient, I am not Kwankwasiyya. I am NDC,” Dickson said, distancing himself from the political movements associated with former Anambra State governor and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The former governor said the NDC was building its own political platform and would seek to mobilise Nigerians around the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dickson’s comments come as opposition politicians and groups continue to negotiate alliances and political arrangements ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the NDC positioning itself as a distinct platform in the emerging political landscape.
The NDC has adopted Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, while Dickson remains one of the party’s national leaders.
Dickson’s statement therefore underscores the party’s attempt to maintain a distinct identity despite the involvement of prominent figures and supporters associated with different opposition movements.
