The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has appointed Anietie Iniedu as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the outgoing Force spokesperson, Anthony Placid, who described Iniedu as an experienced police officer with a strong background in public communication, intelligence management, operational policing, institutional accountability, and administration.

According to the statement, Iniedu hails from Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo.

He has also undergone professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.

Iniedu succeeds Anthony Placid, who was appointed Force Public Relations Officer in March 2026.

Prior to his elevation, the new police spokesman served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he oversaw public complaint management and led initiatives aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the police.

He has also previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, among other operational and administrative roles within the Nigeria Police Force.

The appointment is expected to strengthen the Force’s public engagement efforts as it continues to enhance communication and build trust with citizens nationwide.
