An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast has reportedly killed four people along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The device, allegedly planted by suspected armed bandits, detonated after striking a Toyota Eagle Eye vehicle transporting an unknown number of passengers from Gwashi.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the explosion occurred at 08:32 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, sparking panic among commuters along the route.
Following the incident, troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, tactical units, and bomb disposal experts were deployed to secure the area and assess the scene.
The attack is suspected to have been coordinated by Sadiku, in collaboration with the Dogo Gide faction. Security agencies have since urged travellers to exercise caution on the route.
Confirming the incident to journalists, Hon. Hamisu Fasu, the member representing Bukkuyum at the Zamfara State House of Assembly, stated that four people were confirmed dead.
He said:
“So far, four people have been confirmed dead after their vehicle hit what is suspected to be a bomb or IED.
“Security operatives have since arrived the scene and are working to determine whether additional explosive devices were planted along the route.”
