
Plateau State Governor Barrister Simon Lalong ,yesterday said his
adminstration is working hard to relocate Internally Displaced persons
(IDPs )in the state to their ancestral homes .
He also expressed his determination to come out with a draft policy to
establish the exact number of displaced persons before the end of the
year .
Lalong made this known while speaking at the Regional Peace
Architecture Dialogue(RPAD) ,organised by the Search for Common Ground ,
an International Non Governmental Organisation NGO with the theme
“Transforming the farmer herders conflict and promoting the freedom of
religions and beliefs in Nigeria’s Middle belt. ”
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State SGS
Professor Danladi Atu , Lalong said” this he believes would clearly
demonstrated the value his adminstration attaches to the wellbeing of
citizens of the state .”
He said “As part of efforts to ensure lasting peace ,his administration established the peace building agency .”
Lalong reiterated that his adminstration is determined to
safeguard lives and properties of citizens of the state .
“We would continue to promote and maintain peace ” he added .
The Governor also appreciated Search for Common Ground for bridging the gap among citizens of the state .
Our correspondent report that the state use to be in the news for the
wrong reasons in the past following series of unrest and the farmers /
herders conflicts over the years but peace has returned to the state .
Senior Programme Manager of the NGO, Olutoyin Falade, stressed that the
overall goal of the NGO is to generate effective ways of preventing
violence and destruction of lives among farmers / herders .
She said the project is been implemented in selected local government of Plateau , Nasarawa and Benue
