Reality TV star and Big Brother Naija’s first female winner, Mercy Eke, says she is fully prepared to raise a child as a single mother if marriage does not happen soon.
In a recent interview, the 33-year-old influencer revealed that she feels mentally and financially ready to take on motherhood on her own.
Mercy explained that at this point in her life, she would not hesitate to have a baby outside wedlock, noting that societal judgment about single mothers mostly affects women who lack financial stability.
“I’m ready to have a child outside marriage… At this point, I think if I get pregnant now, I’m just going to have my baby,” she said.
She added that her hard work has placed her in a position to comfortably cater for herself and even “three kids,” stressing that the stigma attached to raising children without a father is often directed at those who are struggling.
Mercy also disclosed that marriage is not her current priority because she has not yet met a partner who aligns with her expectations.
“I’ve not met the person that I will want to spend the rest of my life with,” she stated.
