The husband of Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the principal of Ahoro Esinle School in Oyo State who was abducted alongside 43 pupils and students, held a thanksgiving service on Sunday following her rescue from captivity.

Professor Alamu joined members of the First Baptist Church in a special thanksgiving service to express gratitude to God after his wife and the other victims were freed on Friday following weeks in captivity.

Photos and videos circulating online showed the professor singing and dancing with fellow worshippers as the congregation offered praises for the safe return of Mrs. Alamu and the other abductees.

The worshippers were seen singing “Hallelujah” in celebration, thanking God for preserving the lives of the victims throughout their ordeal and for their eventual rescue.

Mrs. Alamu was among 43 students, pupils and staff members abducted by gunmen from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15. Their release followed months of coordinated security operations involving multiple agencies.

The thanksgiving service came two days after the victims regained their freedom, marking an emotional reunion for the affected families and the church community.
