The outgoing Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), on Thursday performed his final official duty at the Government House, Port Harcourt, before leaving office.
Ibas inaugurated Dr. Irringi Brown as the substantive Head of Service, after which he delivered a statewide broadcast addressing the people of Rivers State.
Dressed in a blue kaftan and his signature glasses, the retired naval chief was accompanied by senior security aides as he took a final walk through the Government House premises. He acknowledged his surroundings with a smile before stepping into his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which led a motorcade out of the complex.
His exit marked the conclusion of a mandate handed to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following months of political turbulence in Rivers State.
Observers described his departure as the end of a chapter shaped by efforts to stabilize governance during a period of crisis. The responsibility of sustaining peace and unity in the state now rests with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who is expected to consolidate on the progress achieved under Ibas’ interim stewardship.
