Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially commenced her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The 28-year-old culinary star, who gained international fame in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, aims to prepare about 250 bags of rice in one massive pot.
The record-breaking cook launched the ambitious attempt at Eko Hotels, Lagos, before a lively crowd of fans and supporters. The event, which was originally scheduled for Muri Okunola Park, was relocated due to overwhelming interest, with more than 20,000 people registering to attend.
Before the cooking began, Hilda and her mother shared a heartfelt moment of prayer, asking for divine strength, protection, and endurance. The touching scene drew emotional cheers from the audience, many of whom described her mother as a key pillar of Hilda’s remarkable journey.
Sharing her excitement on social media, Hilda wrote: “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
If successful, this attempt will add another milestone to Hilda Baci’s growing legacy as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs.
