A significant security presence has been observed at the Lekki tollgate on the third anniversary of the #EndSARS protest, which took place on October 20, 2020.
A memorial walk was organized to commemorate the tragic tollgate shooting during the nationwide #EndSARS protests in 2020. On that day, security operatives reportedly fired live rounds into a crowd of unarmed young people who had gathered at the tollgate to protest against decades of police brutality.
The exact death toll from the incident remains unclear, even three years after the event.
At the time of filing this report, heavy presence of police officers attached to the Lagos police command are at the Lekki tollgate.
