Gunmen Kill Three Miners in Fresh Attack in Plateau Community

Gunmen have killed three miners in a fresh attack along GSS Daffo Road in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victims were reportedly attacked at about 7:15 p.m. on Thursday while returning from a mining site at Fubok in Daffo District.

Bokkos Youth Leader, Christopher Luka, confirmed the incident, stating that the gunmen opened fire on the victims.

The deceased were identified as Maren Agom, 45, a native of Tadai Village in Manguna District, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head; Joe Buba, 38, from Josho Village in Daffo District, who was shot in the chest; and a third victim identified simply as Mr Yellow.

The bodies of the victims have been deposited at Alheri Medical Centre in Daffo.

A resident of the community, Peter Maju, said security personnel were immediately alerted after the attack and had launched efforts to track down the assailants.

He added that security had been reinforced in the area to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.

The latest incident adds to the growing wave of violent attacks recorded in Bokkos Local Government Area and other parts of Plateau State in recent months.
