Gunmen Kill Plateau Youth Leader, Injure Two Others in Separate Attacks

Gunmen have killed a youth leader and former chairman of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), Gashish District, Rwas Paul Danladi, and injured two other persons in separate attacks in Plateau State.

Danladi was reportedly attacked at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, near Rantis Village along the Gashish-Barkin Ladi Road while riding his motorcycle back to Barkin Ladi.

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association confirmed the killing in a statement issued on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong. The association described Danladi as a respected community leader and expressed condolences to his family, friends and the Gashish community.

The group also reported two other attacks across Berom communities on the same day, leaving two people injured. One person was reportedly attacked around Gwom-Ajang in Foron and taken to Jos University Teaching Hospital for treatment, while another victim, Mafeng Samuel Lamba, was injured along Sho Road.

The association further alleged that Bitrus Pam Dadon was attacked along Sho Road and had his motorcycle stolen.

BYM called on the Plateau State Government and security agencies, including the police, military and Department of State Services, to investigate the incidents, apprehend those responsible and strengthen security along vulnerable roads and communities in Barkin Ladi, Jos South and Riyom.

As of the time of reporting, efforts to obtain confirmation from security agencies had been unsuccessful. The identities of the attackers and their motives remain unknown.
