Gunmen Abduct PLASU Student, Attack Student Leader in Bokkos

Gunmen have abducted a 100-level student of Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, and attacked another student during an incident in an off-campus residential community in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 8:40pm on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The abducted student, identified as Miss Favour Ayuba, is a 100-level student of the Department of Mass Communication.

Reports also indicate that the President of the National Association of Religion Students (NARS), PLASU Chapter, who doubles as the association’s National Welfare Minister, was attacked and stabbed multiple times during the incident.

A student, who spoke on condition of anonymity to journalists in Jos on Sunday, confirmed the abduction, saying Ayuba was with another female student when the attackers seized her.

He expressed concern over the growing security threats around the university community and called on security agencies to intervene and ensure the safe return of the abducted student.

A staff member of the university also confirmed that the management had received reports of a shooting in an off-campus student residential area.

According to the staff member, the incident was the second reported shooting in the area within four weeks.

He explained that although the latest attack occurred outside the university premises, the management was concerned about the security of students residing in surrounding communities.

The staff member further disclosed that the university had been making efforts to accommodate more students within the campus but was constrained by limited resources.

He said the institution’s hostels currently accommodate only about 1,000 students, despite having a student population of nearly 20,000.
