Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, relieving six commissioners of their appointments as members of the State Executive Council.
The development was announced by the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government (SSG), Barrister Labaran Shuaibu-Magaji, shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Lafia.
The affected commissioners headed the Ministries of Security, Women Affairs, Works, Science and Technology, Information, and Lands.
According to the SSG, the decision was not based on poor performance but was aimed at injecting fresh energy into the administration as it enters the latter part of its tenure.
He said the State Executive Council commended the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, efficiency and valuable contributions to the development of the state during their time in office.
Shuaibu-Magaji explained that the cabinet adjustment is intended to reposition the administration and ensure the successful delivery of Governor Sule’s mandate within the remaining period of his tenure.
He added that the affected commissioners remain respected partners of the government and could be considered for other public assignments in the future.
The SSG also disclosed that nominees to replace the outgoing commissioners would be announced through official government channels in due course.
Beyond the cabinet reshuffle, the State Executive Council deliberated on strategies to boost internally generated revenue by leveraging Nasarawa State’s growing lithium industry.
The discussions followed the recent inauguration of one of Africa’s largest lithium processing plants in the state by President Bola Tinubu, who was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Shuaibu-Magaji said the government is finalising practical measures to maximise the economic benefits of the lithium processing industry, adding that details of the proposed initiatives will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
