Jos North Local Government Council has formally endorsed Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for a second term in office, citing his outstanding performance since taking over leadership in 2023.
The endorsement was announced on Saturday at the Ornate Pavilion, Jos, during a gathering of party stakeholders, government officials, community leaders, and supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Moving the motion, Executive Chairman of Jos North LGC, Hon. John Kyohroh Christopher, said the Mutfwang administration had brought unprecedented transformation to Jos North and the state at large. He noted that the Governor’s “Time is Now” agenda had won him admiration across all wards of the LGA. The motion was seconded by Hajiya Jamila Gwandu and overwhelmingly supported by attendees.
Hon. Christopher assured that his council was fully aligned with the Governor’s policies and urged citizens to continue supporting the administration. He highlighted projects executed in Jos North under his watch, adding that residents were determined to reward Mutfwang’s performance with stronger electoral backing in 2027.
In his remarks, Jos North PDP Chairman, Hon. Elijah Azi, praised party loyalists and residents for their unwavering commitment, stressing that the Governor’s achievements in infrastructure and governance had cemented his place as the people’s choice for a second term.
Deputy Chairman of the Council, Hon. Sani Kabiru Garkuwa, described the endorsement as a symbol of unity and loyalty, reflecting the overwhelming acceptance of Mutfwang’s leadership.
Goodwill messages poured in from dignitaries including former House of Representatives member for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Aminu Zang; Adviser to the Governor, Da Hon. Joseph Danladi; Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr. Peter Nyam Gai; SEMA Executive Secretary, Hon. Sunday Abdu; Elder Sunday Gini; Hajiya Jamila Gwandu; and former Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Simon Mwadkwon. They commended the Governor’s “impactful and far-reaching” governance, urging citizens to remain united, participate actively in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), and work toward a resounding PDP victory in 2027.
The speakers further argued that Governor Mutfwang’s administration had achieved more in just over two years than the previous government managed in eight.
The event featured a solidarity walk from Polo Roundabout to Ornate Pavilion, drawing large crowds in a public show of support for the Governor.
Among dignitaries present were Executive Chairman of Jos South LGA, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung; Commissioner for Water and Energy, Hon. Bashir Lawandi Datti; Jos North Council Secretary, Hon. Ishaya Gyang; former Plateau Assembly member, Hon. Surv. Esther Simi Dusu; Muslim Welfare Board Chairman, Alh. Aminu Abdullahi; and former lawmakers Hon. Yakubu Choji and Hon. Danjuma Azi. Also in attendance were elders, women leaders, youth groups, and other party loyalists.
