Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents to remain calm as the State House of Assembly moves forward with impeachment proceedings against him.
The governor made the appeal on Sunday during a church service at Port Harcourt commemorating the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. He reassured worshippers that the situation would eventually be resolved.
Governor Fubara explained that his silence amid the political developments was intentional, noting that his confidence and resilience are anchored in his faith in God. Referring to remarks he made during the New Year banquet at the Government House, he added, “dogs bark when they do not understand.”
Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Odu, who also addressed the congregation, urged the public to act responsibly. Her message echoed that of the Dean of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Blessing Eyinda, who in his sermon reminded worshippers that every action would one day be remembered.
Professor Odu further encouraged residents to continue praying for the administration, describing their prayers as a vital source of strength for the government.
