A Nasarawa State High Court has ordered the remand of gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi at a correctional facility over the alleged murder of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Salome Enejo.
The order was issued on Monday by Justice Simon Aboki following Ajayi’s arraignment in Lafia.
State counsel Stanley Ifeanyi told the court that Ajayi allegedly killed Enejo, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He said the act violated Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria, which prescribes the death penalty for culpable homicide.
Ajayi pleaded not guilty to the charge. Justice Aboki remanded him at the Lafia Custodial Centre and adjourned the case to March 17, 2025, for hearing. The judge assured the court of an accelerated hearing due to the case’s seriousness and sensitive nature.
