The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and other fuel retailers have raised the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) nationwide.

A quick survey of NNPCL outlets in Abuja on Tuesday revealed that petrol is now selling for N960 per litre, up from N875 on Monday — a ₦85 increase per litre. The new rates are already in effect at filling stations along Kubwa Expressway, Gwarimpa, Wuse Zone 6, Zone 4, and other locations.

Private fuel marketers, including Empire and Ranoil Sharon, have also adjusted their pump prices to between N960 and N980 per litre.

At MRS filling stations along Kubwa Expressway, fuel dispensing had not commenced as of reporting time, but a manager, speaking anonymously, confirmed the price would be reviewed following a gantry price hike by Dangote Refinery on Monday.

The hike follows Dangote Refinery’s increase of its gantry petrol price to N874 per litre, driven by rising global oil prices amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East.

The move was earlier flagged by both the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, who confirmed the expected pump price increase starting Tuesday.
