Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Sunday, August 30, 2026, met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, at the minister’s residence in Port Harcourt.
The meeting was disclosed by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, in a social media update.
According to Olayinka, Fubara arrived at Wike’s residence alongside elder statesman Dr Sam Sam Jaja and was received by Kingsley Chinda, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State.
Former APC governorship aspirant, Senator Magnus Abe, was also present at the residence during the visit.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of the political reconciliation between Fubara and Wike, following months of tension between the two politicians.
As part of the reconciliation process in May 2026, Fubara stepped down from the governorship race, paving the way for Wike’s preferred candidate to contest the election.
The governor subsequently called on his political supporters across Rivers State to support APC candidates in the governorship and presidential elections.
The latest meeting involving Fubara, Wike and prominent political figures in the state has further drawn attention to the evolving political realignment in Rivers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Details of what was discussed during Sunday’s meeting were not immediately made public.
