The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects linked to the abduction of Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo, sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons, Paul and Peter.
The victims were abducted on June 3 in the Challenge area of Ibadan while she was taking the children to school. They were later rescued on June 6 during a coordinated police operation.
In a statement on Sunday, June 7, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the investigation began with intelligence gathered from the crime scene and surrounding areas.
He said this led to the arrest of one suspect, Wale Abolalewa, also known as “Oloro,” who was already on the command’s watchlist. His arrest subsequently led to the apprehension of another suspect, Dare Oyedele, alias “Solution,” described as a key operational figure within the kidnapping network.
Preliminary findings revealed that the gang had earlier attempted to recruit an insider within the victim’s household in May 2026 through a staff member identified as Segun. The group reportedly carried out surveillance on the family, monitoring their movements, routines, and the schools attended by the children.
The police spokesperson added that the suspects later executed the abduction using an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla after abandoning earlier plans.
Investigations also showed that the gang conducted detailed profiling of the family, including photographs of vehicles, school environments, and daily schedules.
Acting on intelligence, operatives later traced the suspects’ hideout to the Lado community in the Ayegun area of Ibadan.
During the raid on June 6, one gang member identified as “Kelechi,” said to have come from Lagos to serve as a lookout, engaged police operatives in a gun duel. He and another unidentified suspect were neutralised during the exchange.
Following the operation, the kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt and taken into protective custody before being reunited with their family.
Police said two principal suspects, Abolalewa and Oyedele, are currently assisting investigators, while two additional suspects, Semiu Ishola (39) and Adeyemi Ayobami (35), alleged to have facilitated the criminal hideout, have also been arrested.
Items recovered from the suspects include pump-action guns, 14 live cartridges, an unregistered Toyota Corolla, suspected criminal charms, a battle axe, a hammer, suspected hard drugs, and two face masks.
