The former minister of Youths and Sports, Barr Solomon Dalung has been suspended from the Social Democratic Party for anti-party activities in Plateau state.
Nanmwa Dangnan, the SDP Ward Chairman of Sabon-Gida, Langtang South LGA of Plateau State, issued the suspension for anti-party activities, which he said the Party has found the former Miniter to be in contravention of the values and principles of our party.
Recall that Solomon Dalung Joined the SDP in May 2022 and went on to contest in the February 25th 2023 election for the seat of the House of Representative for Langtang North and South Federal Constituency.
The former Minister of Sports during President Buhari’s first tenure, who also contested the election on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, polled 3, 369 votes to finish far 3rd behind winner Beni Lar who polled 42, 008 and her closest rival, Vincent Venmak Bulus of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, who scored 21, 345.
The suspension letter of Barr Solomon Dalung is coming just bearly weeks after the said election with the SDP saying they found him to be in contravention of the values and principles of the party with his actions deemed to have caused significant harm to the reputation and credibility of the Social Democratic Party.
“We have no other option but to suspend you from the party with immediate effect. This suspension will remain in place pending the outcome of a full investigation into the matter. We believe that this course of action is necessary to protect the party and its members from further harm.
“We would like to remind you that as a member of the Social Democratic Party, you have a responsibility to uphold the party’s values and principles at all times. We hope that you will take this suspension as a wake-up call and use this time to reflect on your actions and work towards reconciling with the party”. the SDP Ward Chairman Sabon-Gida further stated in the letter.
