Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will not extend Gernot Rohr’s
contract as Super Eagles head coach, if he fails to qualify the country
for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Gernot Rohr’s men are currently top of Group B of Africa qualifying zone, with six points from their first two matches.
“The mandate given Rohr by his employers is Get the @NGSuperEagles to
the 2018 World Cup in Russia or your contract won’t be extended,” the
media officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye, tweeted on Monday.
Nigeria will take on reigning African champions Cameroon, who are
second in the table, in a crucial double header in August and October
this year.
Rohr is currently preparing his squad for next week’s international friendly matches against Senegal and Burkina Faso in London.
