A Nigerian firefighter, Dooshima Dennis, has sparked conversation online after questioning the safety of people who prefer to sleep naked, especially in the event of an emergency.

While acknowledging that medical experts say sleeping naked can improve health, Dennis warned that the practice could pose serious challenges during fire outbreaks or other emergencies that require quick evacuation.

In a post shared online, she stressed the importance of preparedness over comfort, noting that emergencies often leave little or no time to think.

“People who sleep naked… do you ever think about emergencies? Doctors say sleeping naked improves health. Emergency responders say readiness saves lives,” she wrote.

She further challenged people to consider how they would react if an alarm suddenly went off in the middle of the night.

“If the alarm goes off right now, what are you choosing — comfort or survival? In emergencies, preparation beats preference,” Dennis stated.

She concluded by posing a direct question to her audience: “So tell me — sleeping naked or sleeping ready?”
